Agamemnon Road, West Hampstead, London
The ground floor of this Victorian terraced house was completely opened up to increase the feeling of space and light and the connection with the garden. A solid roof over the new side extension, with frameless glass rooflights and vertical fixed glass panel, together with sliding folding glazed doors, provides beautiful changing patterns of light throughout the day. The iridescent glass-topped kitchen units appearing to break through the end glass panel, and the floor finish continuing to the outside, both help to blur the boundaries between inside and outside.Because this extension was carried out under Permitted Development rights, we were able to push the boundaries of the design beyond what is usually allowed with planning permission.
